This entry was originally published at Bewitched, Bothered, Bewildered
After many months of checking Triple B Forwarders for any signs of giving up their tripleb.com domain name I finally gave up waiting and went in search of something else.
So, from now on you may find me at…
bewitchedbotheredbewildered.com
In the next 48 hours or so you will also be able to find me at www.bewitchedbotheredbewildered.com.
In case you’re worried, this is on top of the usual tripleb.co.uk.

Marketwire - “Vanguard Finds a New Home”
“CARLSBAD, CA and SAN DIEGO, CA — (MARKET WIRE) — 05/05/2006 — Sigil Games Online and Sony Online Entertainment LLC (SOE), a global leader in the online games industry, today announced that Sigil is working with Microsoft Game Studios on an arrangement to acquire the rights to its highly anticipated massively multiplayer online (MMO) game, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. These efforts have resulted in a tentative agreement for Vanguard to be co-published by both Sigil Games Online and SOE. All three companies will be showing the game at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) as they work closely together for a successful transition. Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is scheduled to launch this winter.”
For those who don’t already know me well enough, I pretty much had heart failure when I woke up to this news article. In the early days of EverQuest exactly the same arrangement existed between Sony and then Verant Interactive and it has to be admitted that EverQuest was a highly respected game when Sony were merely handling the publishing, rather than deluding themselves into thinking they were any good at developing an MMO.
That said it is still highly depressing news to wake up to, though after a number of recent marketing problems there are some hints of why this has happened.
Finally, Brad McQuaid came forward with the following quote;
SoE cannot touch the gameplay.
What we have done is become the publishers of our own game. We now have even more control and authority over Vanguard, how it is made, how it is designed, and how it is marketed than we ever had with Microsoft.
I realize there are lots of different feelings about SOE and their games. But whatever those feelings, the fact of the matter is that they know operations and distribution. They will make sure our beta runs the way it needs to, that our game is widely marketed, and that our game is available all over, in all channels.
That is SOE’s role in this new partnership with them. Sigil remains Sigil, able to focus now moreso on what we do best — design, implement, conduct betas, build community, and market.
Fingers crossed then.

| Amazon Associates Program
This entry was originally published at Bewitched, Bothered, Bewildered
Well folks, I have an apology to make to all those who liked my ‘Reading’ and ‘Gaming’ sidebars. As I was doing quite so much linking to Amazon, and they hadn’t yet complained about me using direct links, I thought I would make it somewhat more legitimate, and maybe earn myself a few extra pounds in the process by signing up for their Associates program.
The links aren’t as pretty, but they’re the best option they have available.
I hope you understand.
